Real Estate Leaders Convene at Inman Connect New York

The Inman Connect New York 2022 hosted at Hilton New York Midtown concluded with hundreds of real estate professionals in attendance.

Real estate leaders from major brokerages, startups, and other companies convened to discuss the burning issues facing the industry today. Knowledge was shared, key talking points were discussed, and important relationships were forged.

Ige Johnson, broker/owner of award-winning Texas real estate brokerage RE/MAX Generation, joined more than 250 real estate thought leaders as she took to the stage as part of a panel discussing what it's like to be a woman in the real estate industry.

The panel entitled "Who’s #1? The Future is Female" saw top female real estate leaders discuss the unique challenges and opportunities they face as real estate professionals, while also exploring the role that real estate can play in building a more inclusive future. Moderator Kendall Bonner, Broker/Owner of RE/MAX Capital Realty, was joined by Ige Johnson, Nikki Field, Founder of The Field Team, Sotheby's International Realty, and Veronica Figueroa, CEO & Coach of Figueroa Team | eXp Realty.

Aside from the panel, Ige Johnson also joined the "Meet the Leaders" session where speakers and industry leaders answered the questions and networked with other conference attendees.

"It was an amazing experience. I got a chance to see a different side of me outside of what I was used to seeing of myself. It felt like seeing myself as a little girl watching the woman that she had become. Walking on to that stage with three of the most dynamic women in real estate following my footsteps felt surreal," said Ige Johnson of her experience at Inman Connect New York.

"The most humbling parts were those offstage moments when women of color would walk up to me and say thank you for representing them so well. Those were my fondest moments. I have always dreamt of being an amazing example for all women, but I understand exactly where it's coming from when a woman of color sees me as a representation of them, their mothers, daughters, and sisters. That is the real "why" behind my work," she continued.

Ige Johnson is no stranger to being a powerful voice for women, as she's always been an advocate for gender equality long before she entered the real estate industry. As a business owner, she's made it her mission to ensure that her company culture is one of inclusion and equity, and her real estate leadership is a testament to that.

"One of the most surprising moments for me was when I was asked for my autograph for the first time. I was so caught off guard and immediately thought that I should have practiced. New York is definitely the city of dreams and I can't wait to do it again next year," said Johnson.

With her success in real estate and her dedication to equity for women, Ige Johnson is sure to continue making waves in the real estate industry for years to come.
